TEN Questions with Melissa Reeves

1. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us something about your book "And Then I Laughed" Answer:  My name is Melissa and I am a single widow of four young children who are my reason for everything I do. I love being creative and have loved to write since a young age. Introducing myself feels strange right now. When did you get the thoughts of writing this book?  Answer:  This book, And Then I Laughed, is the cul...

The memoir, introduced by Shonda Allen Hill, Ph.D., sets an emotional tone with a foreword that highlights Proctor's multifaceted nature—vulnerable yet powerful, empathetic yet demanding. Proctor's story is profoundly honest and evocative, with one of the most moving sections detailing the death of his father. This deeply personal recounting serves as a catalyst for Proctor’s self-reflection and transformation, showcasing his journey through grief and resilience. The memoir also candidly addresses the challenges of professional life as a Black American in a predominantly white corporate world, filled with systemic barriers and prejudice.
