Time to Lose by Rita Banks

BOOK: Time to Lose
AUTHOR: Rita Banks

*My Ratings* : 4.2/5 ⭐

Time to Lose by Rita Banks is a book that I picked up thinking that it is going to be a self help book, then I read its description and realized it's a romantic genre novel. Rita through her book shows what truly means to be in love, how people change in love and get power to deal with stuff they have been avoiding for years.

The story revolves around Leanna Martinez, an independent, beautiful, smart woman who has left her rich stepfather's home to make a name for herself in the world and she also avoids men that are rich, powerful and are already climbed the ladder of success as she thinks it can hamper her dream of reaching the top on her own. But things don't get as planned when she joins a company owned by Damian Reed.

Damian Reed is a successful entrepreneur and from the first time he saw Leanna he is in love with her the same goes with Leanna. But where on one hand Leanna is controlling her emotions for the sake of her dream, Damian too is dealing with his dark past, he often considers himself as a man with no heart. Will these two people get along? Will love be able to bring them together? Will they deal with the sacrifices and confrontations they have to do in order to be together? All these questions are answered in this 224 page book.

The story is really good and is a page Turner, you won't even realize when you reached half of the book and if you've ample time then you may even read it in a go. The best part of it was the transition in narration, you will suddenly realize that you are reading the story from Damian's pov and then from Leanna and then from a third person's pov. The side characters are also established very well and there is no compromise done in setting the environment and characters.

The book will be a good read for the lovers of the Romantic genre.

TEN Questions with Melissa Reeves

1. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us something about your book "And Then I Laughed" Answer:  My name is Melissa and I am a single widow of four young children who are my reason for everything I do. I love being creative and have loved to write since a young age. Introducing myself feels strange right now. I am still in the process of rediscovering who I am in the midst of being a widow and a mother, a journey I think all mothers face. I am much more interested in the company I keep than where I want to be. It doesn't matter where I go, as long as I am around people I love. I spent many years traveling, being very mobile and sometimes homeless so I enjoy my little house and the stability and coziness it gives my family. Maybe one day I will be open to exploring again, but for now I am enjoying the calm of four walls.  2. When did you get the thoughts of writing this book?  Answer:  This book, And Then I Laughed, is the cul...

Faith, Strength, and Courage by Gregory O. Proctor

"Faith, Strength, and Courage: A Memoir of Overcoming Adversity & Embracing Life's Journey" by Gregory O. Proctor is a powerful narrative of resilience and personal growth. The memoir, introduced by Shonda Allen Hill, Ph.D., sets an emotional tone with a foreword that highlights Proctor's multifaceted nature—vulnerable yet powerful, empathetic yet demanding. Proctor's story is profoundly honest and evocative, with one of the most moving sections detailing the death of his father. This deeply personal recounting serves as a catalyst for Proctor’s self-reflection and transformation, showcasing his journey through grief and resilience. The memoir also candidly addresses the challenges of professional life as a Black American in a predominantly white corporate world, filled with systemic barriers and prejudice. Proctor’s determination and resolve are evident as he navigates these obstacles. His narrative takes a poignant turn with the diagnosis of mult...
