A Death in Mayfair by Mark Ellis

BOOK: A Death in Mayfair (The DCI Frank Merlin Series)
AUTHOR: Mark Ellis

*My Ratings* : 4.4/5 ⭐

A Death in Mayfair is another book in The DCI Frank Merlin series by Mark Ellis. The story follows another case solving adventure of Frank Merlin in the backdrop of World War 2.

With World War 2 going on, many criminal groups used it's consequences as an opportunity and thus crime has niw increased a lot, and Frank Merlin has taken it upon himself to keep the streets far away from crime, he has sent his wife and children to her parents house to keep them safe from the world war effects and crimes in the town.

The story this time follows the case of two murders one of a very famous actress, the whole scenario looks like it's probably a suicide, and the second a body of young teenage girl found in the rubbles of a building bombed few days back. The investigation is led by Frank and his team which leads to many famous people and criminal groups, and also showcases the corruption and other unethical things that took place in the society during the world war.

The story is full of suspense and thrill, till the end you couldn't guess the killer and will appreciate the book for such good twists and turns. The story moves at a decent pace and focuses on the main storyline more but also gives time for showcasing what is going on in an individual's life and how the war has impacted them.

This book is a fantastic read for the lovers of murder mystery and the best part of this series is that it is old school, it doesn't uses technology and other complicated things to solve the mysteries but focuses on the instincts of human beings and decoding human nature.

TEN Questions with Melissa Reeves

1. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us something about your book "And Then I Laughed" Answer:  My name is Melissa and I am a single widow of four young children who are my reason for everything I do. I love being creative and have loved to write since a young age. Introducing myself feels strange right now. I am still in the process of rediscovering who I am in the midst of being a widow and a mother, a journey I think all mothers face. I am much more interested in the company I keep than where I want to be. It doesn't matter where I go, as long as I am around people I love. I spent many years traveling, being very mobile and sometimes homeless so I enjoy my little house and the stability and coziness it gives my family. Maybe one day I will be open to exploring again, but for now I am enjoying the calm of four walls.  2. When did you get the thoughts of writing this book?  Answer:  This book, And Then I Laughed, is the cul...
