BOOK: At the Court of Broken Dreams: Love and War in the Middle Ages
AUTHOR: Laurence Baillie Brown
*My Ratings* : 4.2/5 ⭐
At the Court of Broken Dreams by Laurence Baillie Brown is a good fictional touch to one of the very famous wars of history known as War of Roses, which many of us know about and it's fascinating to read about it always.
The book has a touch of game of thrones, with all the family drama, politics, and fight for power. The main protagonist of the story is Eddie De-la-Pole, the unhappy younger son who is bisexual and falls in love with the younger brother of the Yorkist queen. But things get complicated when the Yorkist queen separates them.
The story is full of details and makes us want more from the story. Laurence Baillie Brown has done an excellent work in research as when you read the story there is a very less chance that you'll feel it's fiction, moreover the way he has portrayed the family dynamics and power politics is very interesting. The language used is simple yet intriguing and the pace is decent too.
This book will be a great read for the lovers of drama and historical fiction.
